San Casciano Active “Le Sorgenti” – Itinerary

The departure is from the car park located just outside the historic center of San Casciano dei Bagni, turning on the right following the Provincial Road n. 41. Keeping to the sidewalk you cross the new part of the town and at the junction for the Baths, keep to the right and take the sidewalk again. At the end of the descent and as soon as the sidewalk ends, cross the road and take the first downhill dirt track to the right (1.3 km from the start).

After the house on the right, pod. dell’Amato, the road becomes a natural ground and always keeping to the right you will soon reach a small ditch that we will easily pass to reach the  “Podere. Molino di Mezzo”. After the old mill, go down and keep to the right following a road on the edge of the field that runs along the ditch until you reach a gate where we will turn right following an uphill dirt track and after 200 meters turn left following a track on the sidelines. You go up among incredible landscapes alternating fields cultivated with olive groves until you reach Bagno Bossolo. After seeing the Baths and resting a little, continue left along the dirt track for about 200 meters and then turn right (before turning right you have to go 50 meters further to see Bagno Grande). Continue
uphill along a path which then becomes paved until you reach the center of the town by entering from Via Tuzia and passing in front of the Church of the Concezione (15th Century). The route takes us up to the Palazzo Comunale and the Insigne Collegiata di San Leonardo (the main church of San Casciano).
Let’s spend a little more time to take a tour inside the village and its wonderful alleys that tell the ancient history of the town. You can then easily return to the parking through the steps that are immediately on the right after the Carabinieri station.
